An Interview with a Highly Motivated & Multi-Talented Founder – Sushant Sharma



Joining us today for an inspiring interview is Sushant Sharma. He is currently working as a founder of WHMCS Digital and business development manager at the 610 Web Lab with an overall experience of 12+ years, spread across software/IT (web hosting, web development, etc.), eCommerce and healthcare domains.

Sushant started his career in web hosting and web development during early 2012. He also started his entrepreneurial and business strategist journey by founding his very first software company ‘MatSofts’ in early 2013 and offered services like integrated payment gateways, server development service and many others till 2018. In initial years, he wore a lot of hats. He managed the back-end part of hosting and also started playing a key role in strategizing business processes, building strong community and client relations, investing in different business verticals, and developed an exponential growth path for many other companies like Shine Dezign and Avis Technologies.

Convincing clients, exceeding their expectations, building long-lasting relationships with them, handling alone a team of 12 business development engineers and bringing lots of business as an individual, he honestly has a strategic brain like no other, so we caught up with him to find out more about his career journey.

Recently, he has invested his 3 years of career in 610 Web Lab and expanded the team to 30+ people. Question: Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.

Answer: WHMCS Digital is a one-stop destination for all your WHMCS development-related needs. We have a team of reliable WHMCS experts who have been serving clients with everything that they require for their WHMCS-based business covering services such as configuration, integration, security & upgrades.

What sets us apart from the market is our great expertise in the web hosting industry. My role here is generating the new business and managing the operation of the company. I am passionate about my work. I like challenges and would like to help our clients to the maximum extent possible to my abilities. 

Question: What is the story behind starting this company?

Answer: I was passionate about tech from my college days. Learning new technology and utilizing it in a problem solving manner was the key aspect of my approach. However, working as an employee had some barriers that pushed me to start my own venture. We at WHMCS Digital are available to solve the problems that many hosting providers are facing. 

Question: What is your company’s business model? Is it an in-house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?

Answer: We are a completely in-house team focusing on delivering only quality services.

Question: How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?

Answer: We are not focusing on numbers, we are focusing on quality and that can be delivered only if we devote time to understand the customers’ requirements. I think this is the USP for our company and till now it is pretty fruitful for us.

Question: Do you work locally or nationally?

Answer: We are not bound to work in terms of location. As mentioned earlier, we are here to solve the problem. I hope this answers your question.

Question: Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?

Answer: We offer complete WHMCS based services that include all the native work that is possible through the WHMCS admin panel to all the custom development that is possible through Hooks by third party integrations. Our major services are:

– Custom Module development
– Theme Development
– WHMCS secure setup
– Migration services

Question: Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?

Answer: Most of the time, the clients want to set up their store using WHMCS. This includes complete WHMCS setup, Product Setup, Cart Flow, Custom Checkouts etc.

Question: What is your customer satisfaction rate, according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?

Answer: We are 100% delivering our commitments. We are pretty straight forward in setting the benchmarks. If you are not satisfied with our services, we refund all the amount charged! Mind it, this never happened 🙂

To cater to the customer needs and requirements, the key factor is understanding the requirements carefully. Defining the SOW and then providing the clear estimation in terms of time and cost.

This approach is very helpful for us and we are continuing with the same approach. 

Question: What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?

Answer: We have a ticketing system setup. Our technical team is catering to all the requests that come their way for any kind of queries and issues our client’s face after the delivery of the projects.

Question: What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Paying per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)?

Answer: We are flexible as per our clients. So there is no such strict policy for payment structure. 

Question: Do you take on projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If not, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

Answer: We understand the requirements and based on that we calculate the effort that is required to deliver the project. So there is no min or max figure. Some projects can start from $50 and can go to $50000 USD. 

Question:  What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2022?

Answer: It was around $1000 to $35000 USD

Question: How do you advertise your business?

Answers: We focus on organic traffic, but as you know there is a lot of competition. So, we do social media and forums, guest posting to bring new business. We are very active on platforms like Upwork and Freelancer.

Question:  Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?

Answer: My vision is having at least 10,000 active clients with at least 90% success rate.

Question After talking a lot about your professional life, let’s move on to your personal interests. How do you spend your time besides work?

Answer: As a married man, l love spending time with my kids. Interacting with them, playing with them, is always relaxing. I would say, I learn a lot from my kids the way they are always asking me questions and reminding me asking questions are good to learn.

Other than this, I love sleeping, watching and playing cricket, and reading books.

Question: If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out, what would it be?

Answer: Be focused, be passionate about what you know and what you want to do.
